A Fifteen year old male presented on April 15th 2012 with the chief complaint "My gums are swelled up."
He was on a six month cleaning schedule then a three month cleaning schedule. With no improvement he was referred by the hygienist to this office.
The oral examination at our office showed that he had braces on his teeth (for one year), he had swollen gums, considerable bone loss, and poor oral hygiene. Dr. Wagstaff consulted with the orthodontist and it was recommended that the braces be removed.
His treatment here included five appointments of scaling and root planing, oral hygiene instruction, and antibiotic therapy.
The re-evaluation was performed on September 11th 2012 with signs of significant improvement. His oral hygiene has improved, his bone level is stable, his probing depths are decreased, and his gums are less swollen. We will continue to follow this patient.
The patient, family and Dr. Wagstaff are happy with the results.
